Simonne Overend - VP of Scripted Development
Simonne Overend is Essential Media and Entertainment's Vice President of Scripted Development for the US.
Prior to joining Essential, Simonne held roles in film and television development, production and distribution in Australia, Singapore and Paris and London. She has worked in development for a range of companies, including RGM Artist Group, BBC4, IWC Media, December Films and Village Roadshow. Simonne is also the President of Australians in Film, an LA-based organization for film and television professionals working in the US.
Michael O'Neill - VP Unscripted Development
Michael O’Neill oversees all non-scripted development for Essential Media. Michael's development and sales efforts spearheaded a period of growth of the Australian operation with more than 30 hours of high-end factual programming currently in production. Highlights include the eight-hour mega documentary from Essential entitled Australia: The Story of Us for Seven Network, and What's The Catch? for SBS. In the USA, Michael has been responsible for developing Texas Flip N Move for HGTV and several pilots for US broadcasters.
Michael won a Digital Emmy award for co-producing and writing the transmedia campaign for Essential’s drama Scorched for Nine Network, and has worked as a factual development producer for more than five years with production companies such as NHNZ, Firelight Productions and Essential Media in Sydney on projects such Traveler’s Guide to the Planets for National Geographic Channel, Whatever!, The Science of Teens series for ABC1 and Storm Surfers for 3NET.
